Newspaper publisher William Randolph Hearst had this house built in 1932 as one of four guest cottages on the Santa Monica Gold Coast estate of his lover, actress Marion Davies. After she died in 1961, the state took over the property, including a 110-room mansion, and moved this house from its beach site on Pacific Coast Highway to Santa Monica Canyon.
About this house: Julia Morgan, who designed Hearst Castle in San Simeon, also designed this Country English-style house, which was completely restored in 1994, a year after it was purchased by its current owner.
Asking price: $1,695,000.
Size: The 16-room home has five bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms in 4,211 square feet. The lot size is 7,680 square feet.
Features: Among its features are original crystal doorknobs and moldings. The home also has a large master suite, a private entry for the guest suite, an upstairs deck with ocean view; a family room; a living room with a fireplace; three gardens and parking for six cars.
