The Chicago Blackhawks appeared to be in control before Brett Hull took over and sparked the Detroit Red Wings to a stunning victory at Chicago.

Hull’s second goal of the third period tied it with 37 seconds left, and then he made a great pass to Jason Woolley for the winning goal in overtime Sunday night as the Red Wings won, 4-3.

“We didn’t quit when it was 3-1 and it paid off,” Hull said. “We were doing a lot of good things and just kept with it.”

Hull forced overtime when he took a pass from Nicklas Lidstrom and shoved the puck past goalie Jocelyn Thibault.

In overtime, he moved the puck across the ice to a streaking Woolley, who beat Thibault and ended Chicago’s eight-game unbeaten streak.

Playing before a crowd of 21,295 -- the largest of the season at home, though it included many Red Wing fans -- the Blackhawks continued their strong play and are now 8-2-4 in their last 14 games.

“I have a thing on a two-on-one, that the goalie will look for me to shoot because he thinks I’m a shooter. Jason got open and I got it over to him,” Hull said.

Woolley, who missed a shot in the third period when he hit the crossbar, got a second chance in overtime.

“Brett made a great pass. I could see as soon as he turned he wasn’t going to shoot,” Woolley said. “I wanted one back so bad after hitting the crossbar.”

Philadelphia 5, Atlanta 4 -- Mark Recchi broke two third-period ties at Atlanta, giving him eight goals and 12 assists in 13 games against the Thrashers.

The win improved Philadelphia’s record against the expansion team to 10-1-3.

Recchi put the Flyers ahead, 4-3, at 11:11 of the third period, knocking a rebound past Pasi Nurminen.

But Atlanta’s Marc Savard scored at 12:24 on a similar goal.

The Flyers then rallied again as Recchi fired in a high wrist shot over Nurminen at 14:29 for his second game-winning goal of the season and his 11th goal overall.
