Trojan Football Fans Wanted One More Shot

So would going 14-0 with victories over Washington State, Penn State, Purdue, Michigan, and No. 1 Miami be enough to answer the questions of who deserved to be in the Fiesta Bowl?

Not for those spoiled crybabies from USC. You can whine and talk all you want. My suggestion is, next time, pay attention when playing Washington State and Kansas State and realize that an undefeated season deserves more recognition than who played better in the last few games of the season.

Me, I’ll still root for my 2-11 Stanford Cardinal and be proud.

As much as Chris Dufresne would like us Trojans to “zip our traps,” [Jan. 5] his imperious attitude cannot deflect the fact that USC played a tougher schedule than Ohio State, and a playoff would have revealed USC to be the national champion. Perhaps next season USC should put the Harvard-Westlake football team on the schedule. After all, strength of schedule doesn’t seem to matter to Dufresne -- just that you win.

With all due respect to idiots, Chris Dufresne has now joined that non-exclusive club and is the president. His article regarding the USC football team has to have been the most absurd ever written by a staff member of this paper.

He wrote that since Ohio State beat Washington State, and because Washington State beat USC, USC had no right to claim that it was the best team in country. That is by far the dumbest comment ever written in a national newspaper. If that were indeed the case, sports as we know it would cease to exist. If one team gets beaten by another and they in turn are beaten, then we should all assume that that team would beat the team that was originally beaten.

You’re a genius, Chris! No more reason to ever play the games.
