Sidney Troxell, 84; Attorney in Divorce, Environmental Cases
Sidney Troxell, 84, civil litigation attorney in Los Angeles for more than half a century, died Wednesday at his home in Pacific Palisades of unspecified causes.
Born in Los Angeles, he spent his entire life in the city, except for three years during World War II. Drafted into the Army, he interrupted his law studies at USC to serve as a radio operator with the Army Air Forces in the South Pacific.
Troxell completed his bachelor’s degree, a year of graduate studies in philosophy and his law degree at USC and was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1947. He maintained his law offices in North Hollywood through 2000.
A familiar courthouse figure, Troxell handled divorce cases and general civil litigation. As environmental cleanup became a major governmental concern, he represented small metal plating companies and other businesses in their dealings with the Environmental Protection Agency.
