The Senate voted 36-1 Monday to approve Michael Kahn as chairman of the board that governs the state’s electrical grid, over the objection of the senator investigating the energy crisis.

Sen. Joe Dunn (D-Santa Ana) opposed Kahn, saying he and the board had failed to remove top managers at the California Independent System Operator after energy problems spiraled into crisis.

Dunn, chairman of the Select Committee to Investigate Price Manipulation of the Wholesale Energy Market, said his objection was not to Kahn personally, but to Cal-ISO’s upper management.
