Man Dies After Blow From Brick
Police sought the public’s help Tuesday in finding several suspects who reportedly stood around laughing after they killed a 38-year-old man by throwing a brick at his head.
The crime in the Mid-City area was “not only brutal but inhumane,” said Officer Jason Lee, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department.
The incident occurred Monday about 6:40 p.m., when suspected gang members chased the victim on St. Elmo Drive, west from Rimpau Boulevard.
The man tripped and fell in the 4800 block of St. Elmo and screamed for help, Lee said. One of the suspects threw a brick at the man’s head. The victim, whose name was not released, died later at a hospital.
Lee said police did not know whether the victim knew his assailants.
