These donations are Golden
The organization that puts on the Golden Globes presented $601,500 to various educational institutions and foundations in ceremonies Wednesday at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The donations, the largest to date by the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn., were for scholarship funds, film and video equipment purchases and institutional support.
Recipients included the Film Foundation, CalArts, Sundance Institute and film schools at UCLA, USC and Cal State Northridge, as well as the American Film Institute and American Cinematheque.
The association said it has made nearly $3.6 million in charitable donations over the last nine years.
