Here Are the Results From the Freedom Open

I can’t wait until next year’s French Open when Serena and Venus Williams boycott it and the French apologize for their terrible behavior and beg them to please play in their event, only to have the sisters ignore their pleas. The two may never play there again after the way Serena was treated there.

I’d be willing to bet the Serena Slam will never again include the French Open.

The Times’ coverage of the French Open match between Serena Williams and Justine Henin-Hardenne surprised me.

The article stressed the hostility the French crowd showed toward Williams, but there was a glaring omission: The crowd had a legitimate reason to be annoyed with the American tennis star. Williams made insulting comments about the French at a recent news conference. The crowd’s disgust with her was a result of her own foolishness. Failing to mention that changes the story completely and is irresponsible journalism.

I guess Serena Williams’ “looks of hatred” didn’t intimidate Justine Henin-Hardenne.
