Robbery Suspect Shot in Gunfight With Police
A gunfight erupted Saturday between police officers and a robbery suspect, who suffered wounds to his shoulder and leg, authorities said.
The suspect, who was not identified, allegedly robbed a surplus store at gunpoint of a pair of boots, then later walked into a bar and pointed a gun at a bartender after ordering a beer, said Lt. Wayne Salmon.
The shootout occurred at 11:15 a.m., when officers approached the suspect at a taco stand on Imperial Highway near Condon Avenue and he allegedly pointed a gun at them. He was taken to a hospital for surgery.
