Firing of Professor Draws Condemnation
The American Assn. of University Professors voted to condemn the University of South Florida for firing professor Sami Al-Arian without a hearing before his faculty peers.
Al-Arian was fired a week after he was arrested in February, charged with being the North American leader of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, a terrorist group that has killed dozens of people in the last decade. He remains in jail and denies he has any connections to terrorism.
