SPARKS TONIGHT
at Detroit, 4:30 PDT
Site -- The Palace of Auburn Hills.
Radio -- KPLS (830).
Records -- Sparks 9-0, Shock 3-1.
Record vs. Shock (2002) -- 1-0.
Update -- Two of the WNBA’s highest-scoring teams collide tonight. Detroit, considered one of the league’s most improved teams after adding Ruth Riley and Kedra Holland-Corn, and drafting Cheryl Ford (Karl Malone’s daughter), leads the WNBA at 84.3 points a game. Second-year starter Swin Cash (17.5) is one of four Shock players in double figures. Los Angeles, third in league scoring at 75.6 points, goes for its 19th consecutive victory, dating to last season. A win tonight would set a WNBA record for the fastest start. The only other team to begin a season 9-0? The Sparks, in 2001.
