Lawmakers Apologize to Muslim Leader

Imam Mohamad Joban returned to the state House in Olympia to deliver the opening prayer, and this time everyone listened.
Reps. Lois McMahan and Cary Condotta sparked a controversy Monday when they stayed off the House floor during the Muslim leader’s prayer. Their actions prompted rebukes from a national Muslim group and from state Republican Chairman Chris Vance.
This time McMahan and Condotta shook Joban’s hand and apologized to him.
