From Times Wire Reports
Former rebel leader Foday Sankoh was among seven people indicted by the U.N. war crimes court in Sierra Leone, in the first legal acts by the tribunal.
Sierra Leone’s decade-long war, which ended last year, was marked by such atrocities against civilians as the amputation of limbs and mass rapes.
Among the other defendants indicted on charges including murder, rape, extermination and acts of terror were Internal Affairs Minister Sam Hinga Norman and ex-junta leader Johnny Paul Koroma, who is on the run.
