Marquette and Wade Just Don’t Have It

Eric Bush scored 17 points and tied a Conference USA tournament record with six steals to lead Alabama Birmingham to an 83-76 upset of No. 8 Marquette in the quarterfinals on Thursday night at Louisville, Ky.

Morris Finley scored 23 points and Demario Eddins had 16 points and five steals for the Blazers (18-11), who shot 51%.

Conference USA Player of the Year Dwyane Wade set a tournament record with 10 turnovers as Marquette (23-5) lost for only the second time in 17 games.

Brent Darby banked in a layup with 1.8 seconds left to lead Ohio State (15-13) to a 66-64 victory over Iowa (15-13) in a first-round game at Chicago.... Jitim Young scored 20 points and scrappy Northwestern (12-16) all but ended the NCAA hopes of Minnesota (16-12) with a 76-64 victory....
