U.S. to Give $28 Million to City for Security Costs
From Times Staff Reports
The federal government has awarded the city $28 million for homeland security.
The money will be used for training, equipment and personnel for the fire and police departments, Mayor James K. Hahn said Thursday.
The grant was announced by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
The city received more than $30 million in the program’s first two rounds of grants, but has spent $138 million on enhanced security measures since the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
