Loss of a Loved One
I read with interest “Guiding ‘Forgotten Mourners’ Through the Chaos” (Oct. 5), about Gary’s Place for Kids, a new center in Orange County that seeks to help grieving children. My father died at the age of 48, when I was 12 years old, and I remember the isolation I felt. There were no support groups for children in 1963. I would like to let readers in the San Gabriel Valley know that Citrus Valley Health Partners provides two support groups for children who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Children’s Bridge is a support group for ages 7 to 11, and Adolescent’s Bridge for those 12 to 17. For information, call (626) 814-2479 or (888) 456-CVHP.
