Irvine Man, 83, Dies in Crash

An elderly Irvine man died Wednesday when his car drifted off the road and hit a tree, police said.
Novel Bruce James, 83, was driving his Ford Escort south on Sand Canyon Road just past Trabuco Road about 11:20 a.m. when it ran off the right side of the road and struck a eucalyptus, police said.
He was taken to Irvine Regional Hospital and Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The accident is under investigation, police said.
