The Rev. Kenneth Hagin, 86; Faith Healer, Radio Evangelist
The Rev. Kenneth E. Hagin, 86, founder of Kenneth Hagin Ministries and an influential radio evangelist, died of undisclosed causes Friday in a hospital in Tulsa, Okla., after collapsing in his home Sunday.
Hagin, who is considered one of the early pioneers in the healing ministry, founded what is now known as Kenneth Hagin Ministries in 1962.
Headquartered in Broken Arrow, Okla., it encompasses Faith Library Publications, “Rhema Praise,” a weekly television program; “Faith Seminar of the Air,” a daily radio program; the Word of Faith, a free monthly magazine; Rhema Bible Training Center; Rhema Correspondence Bible School; and Rhema Prayer and Healing Center.
Born in McKinney, Texas, on Aug. 20, 1917, Hagin said that God had miraculously healed him of a deformed heart and an incurable blood disease at the age of 17. He became a pastor in the Assemblies of God in 1937 and gave up his pastorate 10 years later to become a traveling evangelist.
