Ron ‘Fritz’ Williams, 59; Played for Lakers, Warriors and Bucks

Ron “Fritz” Williams, 59, a former player with the National Basketball Assn.’s Golden State Warriors, died Sunday of a heart attack at his home in San Jose.
A native of Weirton, W.Va., Williams was among the first African Americans to earn a basketball scholarship at West Virginia University, in 1964. Four years later, he began his eight-year career in the NBA. He spent his first five seasons with the Warriors, before playing two years with the Milwaukee Bucks and one with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Williams obituary -- The obituary brief on former NBA player Ron “Fritz” Williams in the April 8 California section stated that he served as an assistant coach at UC Berkeley, Mineral College and Iona College. He was an assistant coach at UC Berkeley, Iona College and Menlo College.
Williams, a guard, retired after the 1975-76 season with career averages of 9.3 points and 3.5 assists.
He later had assistant coaching stints at UC Berkeley, Mineral College and Iona College.
