Helicopters delivered food to survivors and rescued the injured as floods began to recede in the northern Philippines, revealing the devastation left by back-to-back storms that killed more than 650 people.

Soldiers found about 100 dead in an isolated village. In the worst-hit town, Real, in Quezon province, TV images showed bodies buried beneath mud and debris, only their feet jutting out.

Most of the devastation was caused by a tropical storm late Monday. Typhoon Nanmadol then struck the region Thursday.
