Textile Worker Killed in Job-Site Explosion

A textile worker was killed early Monday when a pressurized chamber exploded and knocked him to the ground, officials said.
Noel Omar Ortiz-Rodriguez, 31, of Lakewood was taken to La Palma Intercommunity Hospital, where he died of head injuries about 5:30 a.m., coroner’s officials said.
Ortiz-Rodriguez, a worker at Saba Textiles in Buena Park, was opening up the chamber when it exploded, officials said. The state Division of Occupational Safety and Health is investigating.
