KMEX wins governor’s award

KMEX-TV Channel 34’s public-affairs series “34 a Su Lado” (34 by Your Side) was named Thursday to receive the governor’s award for broadcasting achievement at the annual Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards.
Nominations for the local Emmys also were announced, with KTTV-TV Channel 11 capturing 24 to lead the pack of local outlets. It was followed by Fox Sports Net with 15, KCBS-TV Channel 2 with 13, KCAL-TV Channel 9 with 12 and KNBC-TV Channel 4 with 11.
The winners will be announced Aug. 28.
