Def Jam Recordings President Leaves
From Reuters
Def Jam Recordings said President Kevin Liles has left the company.
Def Jam Recordings is a unit of Island Def Jam Music Group, a unit of Vivendi Universal’s Universal Music Group.
Industry sources said Liles, a well-regarded executive, was forced out after tensions with Island Def Jam Chairman Antonio “L.A.” Reid, who replaced Liles’ longtime associate, Lyor Cohen, in January.
Liles is credited with signing such Def Jam artists as Jay-Z, Kanye West and Ludacris.
