Nixon’s Name May Ride a Little Farther
A section of Imperial Highway in Anaheim could be renamed the Richard Nixon Parkway if Congress approves a rider on a major transportation spending bill.
Rep. Gary Miller (R-Diamond Bar), who has been working with the Richard Nixon Library & Birthplace in Yorba Linda on the name change idea, said Thursday the rider involves less than a mile of Imperial Highway from Orangethorpe Avenue to the Riverside Freeway.
Yorba Linda officials have already renamed the highway through their city in honor of the nation’s 37th president. The proposed change affects a part of the roadway in Anaheim.
If the transportation bill is passed, signs noting the new name will be placed along the route and on the Riverside Freeway at the Imperial Highway offramps.
