Bankruptcy Court Gets Teen’s Bid for Gun Firm
From Times Staff Reports
A bid to buy an Orange County-based gun maker by a youngster left a quadriplegic by an accidental shooting was submitted to a bankruptcy court Friday.
The bid of $175,000 entered on behalf of Brandon Maxfield, 17, who was shot a decade ago by a baby sitter trying to unload a Bryco Arms gun, counters an offer made by the former plant manager of the Costa Mesa company.
Maxfield plans to shut down the company. A ruling on the offer is expected early next week, said Richard Ruggieri, Maxfield’s lawyer.
