Audit Board Censures Newsday, Sun-Times
Tribune Co.’s Newsday and Hoy newspapers and Hollinger International Inc.’s Chicago Sun-Times were censured by the Audit Bureau of Circulations after the publications said they had overstated their circulations.
The bureau, a trade organization that tracks magazine and newspaper circulation, said it would require the newspapers to be audited every six months rather than annually for the next two years and would exclude their figures from its semiannual report for the next year.
Shares of Tribune, also the parent company of The Times, rose 4 cents to $43.38, and Hollinger fell 17 cents to $16.33. Both are traded on the NYSE.
