An Emmy nod in lieu of flowers
Some actors don’t care about the Emmys, but others are apparently dying to be nominated.
Especially on “The Sopranos.”
Joe Pantoliano, who played the obnoxious Ralph Cifaretto on HBO’s series, won the Emmy for supporting actor in a drama last year after his character was whacked by a seriously ticked-off Tony Soprano.
This year, Tony ordered Adriana (Drea de Matteo) unceremoniously offed in the woods after finding out she’d been roped in as a reluctant FBI informant. Likewise, when Tony B. (Steve Buscemi) soured Tony’s relationship with the New York clan, he wound up with a bullet between the eyes. A raw deal, maybe, but both got supporting role Emmy nods. Coincidence? You decide.
