This time, Seacrest really is out -- of syndicated TV, at least.

Ryan Seacrest, the frosted-hair host of Fox’s hit “American Idol,” is saying goodbye to his low-rated talk show, “On Air With Ryan Seacrest,” which was broadcast from a studio at the Hollywood and Highland retail complex in Los Angeles.

“On Air” debuted in January to great fanfare. Seacrest’s musical guests often performed in the outside courtyard, with fans lining the mall’s perimeter.

But “On Air” never seemed to catch on with viewers, despite a generous helping of A-list visitors, such as Halle Berry and Ashley Judd. At the taping of Wednesday’s show, Seacrest announced the show would not be back for a second season.

When the audience gave him a round of applause, Seacrest joked, “Where were you guys when the ratings came out?”

Seacrest, known and sometimes ridiculed for his “Idol” tagline “Seacrest ... out!” said in a statement that he was proud of the team that helped produce his show and that he “looked forward to building my business within (syndicator) Twentieth Television,” he said.

Seacrest, 29, will continue as host of “Idol,” the hit talent search show which will return for its fourth season in January, as well as the radio countdown show “American Top 40.” Since February, he has also been host of the 5-10 a.m. morning show for KIIS-FM (102.7) in Los Angeles.

Executives said “On Air” would run until mid-September.
