Husband Sentenced for Beating Celebrity Wife

A Saudi court has sentenced the husband of a female television presenter to 300 lashes and six months in prison for beating her, a newspaper said.
Rania Baz allowed Saudi newspapers to publish pictures of her battered face in an effort to highlight the taboo topic of domestic abuse in the conservative Muslim kingdom.
Baz, who works for Saudi state TV’s Channel One, said her husband, Mohammed Fallatta, broke her nose and fractured her face in 13 places.
An attempted-murder charge was reduced to severe battery. She reportedly has filed for divorce.
