Recall Vote Looms; Chavez Says He’s Ready

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said he was ready to submit to a referendum on his rule after authorities announced that his opponents had gathered enough signatures.
Chavez spoke just hours after electoral authorities said preliminary results from checks of pro-referendum signatures gathered over the weekend showed that the opposition had obtained 2.45 million valid signatures, more than the 2.44 million required to trigger the poll.
