A Santa Ana woman was arrested Monday in connection with a hit-and-run accident in Newport Beach last week that left a man critically injured, police said.

Armed with a warrant, Newport Beach police arrested Dulce Itzamara Herrera at her home Monday afternoon on suspicion of felony hit and run. She is accused of seriously injuring a 24-year-old Los Angeles man as he crossed at MacArthur Boulevard and Bonita Canyon Drive about 9:30 p.m. May 31. The victim, whose name was not released, suffered severe head, leg and abdominal injuries after being thrown more than 120 feet.

Herrera apparently did not slow down before or after hitting the man, police said.
