Chief of Postsecondary Education Panel Leaving

Robert L. Moore, executive director of the California Postsecondary Education Commission, said he will leave the advisory organization effective April 1. Moore, a 55-year-old lawyer who has commuted between Los Angeles and Sacramento since taking the commission job in July 2002, said he was stepping down to spend more time with his family. He has 3-year-old twins and two teenage stepchildren.

Named to replace Moore on an acting basis was Murray Haberman, a 20-year veteran at the commission, which advises the governor and Legislature on higher education issues.

Once an education advisor to then-Gov. Jerry Brown, Moore said he does not have any specific plans as to what he will do next in his career.
