Europe’s Airbus should get another shot at supplying billions of dollars of aerial refueling tankers to the U.S. Air Force if the Pentagon kills a stalled plan to go with Boeing Co., Air Force Secretary James Roche said.

European Aeronautic Defense & Space Co., which owns 80% of Airbus, Boeing’s chief commercial aircraft rival, said it was prepared to compete for all future U.S. tanker business.

Boeing and EADS had sought to supply the U.S. Air Force with commercially derived aircraft to replace aging KC-135 tankers used to refuel U.S. warplanes in flight.
