No. 4 WAKE FOREST vs. No. 12 MANHATTAN

* Site: Raleigh, N.C. * Time: 12:40 p.m. PST.

* What to watch for: If Manhattan (25-5) can challenge early, as happened in its 75-60 upset Thursday of fifth-seeded Florida, this could turn out to be a good game. The Demon Deacons didn’t come to life until the last 10 minutes of their 79-78 victory over Virginia Commonwealth and it was nearly too late. If Wake Forest (20-9) can shoot three-point shots as it did during one stretch of the second half Thursday, it will open things inside for Eric Williams.

* Key to the game: Kenny Minor is Manhattan’s Muggsy Bogues, and he could be the only player who can stop Chris Paul.

No. 1 SAINT JOSEPH’S vs. No. 8 TEXAS TECH

* Site: Buffalo, N.Y. * Time: 2:30 p.m. PST.

* What to watch for: Saint Joseph’s (28-1) easily won its first-round game against No. 16 Liberty but did not have a particularly good defensive effort in the second half. Texas Tech (23-10) won a close game against Charlotte. The usual suspects, Andre Emmett (20) and Jarrius Jackson (17), led the way. Saint Joseph’s, of course, has the pressure. The team needs to live up to its No. 1 seeding.

* Key to the game: Charlotte was able to drive inside in the second half, which kept the game close, so you know the Red Raiders were working on that Friday. Texas Tech did a good job guarding against the three-point shot (Charlotte was six for 24) and will need to do so against Jameer Nelson and Delonte West, who took 12 against Liberty.
