To Yosemite, and beyond
Here’s a place where you can revel in your tax dollars at work -- and play. This recently redesigned guide to our outdoor treasures shows just how extensive the options are beyond the usual suspects -- Yosemite, Yellowstone, etc. From Wind Cave National Monument in North Dakota to Guadalupe National Park in Texas to Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve in Idaho, to the underwater reefs of Dry Tortugas National Park, there is plenty to explore. It’s all covered here, every national park, historic monument and landmark, indexed alphabetically by region or subject. Sections on science and nature, history and culture take you deeper into the territory.
Planning a camping trip? The site allows you to research the park and book reservations. You can also search for park jobs and volunteer work, books and videos. Teachers and students will find a wealth of educational material here, including a historical component, “Links to Our Past,” which provides information on significant places and people in our history.
This is your land, and this site lets you know the holdings are pretty big.
