Little-Known 76er Stings Mavericks
With Allen Iverson out of the lineup, John Salmons got a chance to show off his three-point shooting prowess.
Salmons set career highs with 21 points and five three-point baskets to lead the Philadelphia 76ers to a 107-98 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night at Philadelphia.
Salmons had never made more than two three-pointers in a game.
Playing without Iverson (sore knee) and second-leading scorer Glenn Robinson (elbow surgery), the 76ers displayed some of their best ball movement of the season.
Kenny Thomas tied a season high with 27 points and added 13 rebounds for the 76ers, who ended a four-game losing streak.
Dirk Nowitzki had 30 points for Dallas, which lost Coach Don Nelson to an ejection 33 seconds into the second half for arguing a call.
Indiana 101, Chicago 77 -- Reggie Miller scored 17 points at Indianapolis to help the Pacers avoid their first three-game losing streak of the season and make up for the loss of Jermaine O’Neal to a knee injury in the second quarter.
O’Neal injured his left knee trying to set a pick. He will be re-evaluated today but the team said O’Neal might be sidelined for a game or two.
Houston 93, Portland 85 -- Yao Ming sent the game into overtime with a layup and started overtime with a dunk en route to 28 points and 13 rebounds to help the visiting Rockets end a three-game losing streak. The Trail Blazers made one of eight shots in overtime.
New York 96, Atlanta 84 -- Nazr Mohammed had 18 points and 13 rebounds at New York in his first game against his former team. Mohammed was traded to New York last month.
