Former Coach Pleads Guilty to Drug Charges

A former coach of the girls’ soccer team at Fillmore High School pleaded guilty Tuesday to three counts of selling and possessing drugs, authorities said.
Jose Ismael Nolasco, 27, is scheduled to be sentenced April 21. Although he admitted selling methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a school, he did not sell to students, said prosecutor Ryan Wright.
Nolasco was arrested last month when he was found selling drugs near his Santa Paula home.
He also had been seen selling at other locations in Santa Paula and Fillmore, police said.
Nolasco was hired as a soccer coach last September.
Nothing in a standard background check raised any red flags, according to school officials.
He was fired after the charges against him were made public.
