Three Big Pick-Six Purses Today

There are three significant pick-six carry-overs today, topped by Gulfstream Park’s record $315,451. Aqueduct has a carry-over of $124,697, and Golden Gate Fields has one of $50,402.

Nobody has hit the pick six at Gulfstream since March 15, and it is possible the pool will reach $1 million today.

A horse many may focus on is She’s Sterling. A 3-year-old daughter of Silver Deputy trained by Bill Mott for Live Oak Plantation, she could make the third time the charm in today’s sixth, a $32,000 maiden race at about 1 1/16 miles on turf.

She’s Sterling, who finished sixth in her lone start as a 2-year-old last fall at Belmont Park, was third, beaten by three lengths, in her initial appearance at Gulfstream Park. The winner of that contest, Minge Cove, returned to win a minor stake on Sunday in Florida. Edgar Prado will ride She’s Sterling.

The rest of the races in the Gulfstream pick six include a $16,000 maiden claimer, a route for older claimers racing for a $25,000 price tag, a $25,000 claimer for 3-year-olds, a $34,000 allowance for 3-year-old fillies and a $50,000 claiming sprint for older horses on the grass.

Race of the day: Dhamma and Desert Pearls, who won their first starts last year, top a field of seven fillies and mares in today’s fourth, a $49,000 allowance at six furlongs at Santa Anita.

One for the road: Stone King makes his first start for high-percentage trainer Brian Koriner in today’s fifth, a $6,250 claimer for older horses at 1 1/16 miles, at Golden Gate Fields.

Exotically speaking: A trifecta in the eighth keying Global Image on top with Sultry Sound, Genie Magic and The Castle in the two hole and all in the third spot.

Winners: Previous day/meet total: 2/190. Money: Previous day/meet total: $7/$1,002. Total money bet: $1,100.
