Roy Disney Reaches Out to Other Dissidents
Roy E. Disney, the Walt Disney Co. shareholder trying to oust Chief Executive Michael Eisner, tried to tighten ties with other dissidents by offering to share information.
Roy Disney said his family company, Shamrock, would “share ideas and information” with state pension funds and others, he said, declining to give details.
His announcement at the spring meeting of the Council of Institutional Investors came as the group of state pension officials was arranging to meet with the Disney board.
Judith Estrin, a Disney director and head of the board’s compensation committee, on Thursday told the group that the company had outperformed “roughly twice” the benchmark Standard & Poor’s 500, since the day Eisner joined Disney 20 years ago.
