Boy, Maybe They Should Be Called the Grouchos

UC Santa Barbara athletics are the red-headed stepchild of Southern California. Mostly ignored during the year or relegated to tiny print in the back of the sports page. That is until one of our teams excels and all of a sudden we are a part of “So Cal” again. Case in point, the recent success of the women’s basketball team. The L.A. Times needs to either give UCSB better coverage throughout the year or hop off the Gaucho bandwagon when we do well.
