Boeing Co. Chief Executive Harry Stonecipher said he expected the Pentagon to approve a $23.5-billion plan to lease and buy as many as 100 767 jetliners for use as aerial refueling tankers once a probe of a potential conflict of interest is done.

“I still think it will go forward, absolutely,” Stonecipher said after addressing a defense conference in Washington.

Shares of Chicago-based Boeing climbed 40 cents to $40.33 on the New York Stock Exchange.
