Murder Charges Filed in Hit-and-Run Deaths
A nanny charged in the October hit-and-run deaths of two Danville children was indicted by a grand jury Friday on two new charges, the Contra Costa district attorney said.
Jimena Barreto, 45, will now stand trial on charges of second-degree murder and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. She had been charged in November with driving with a suspended license, leaving the scene of a crime, possession of cocaine and hit and run.
Barreto is accused of driving her gold Mercedes-Benz onto a Danville sidewalk Oct. 26, killing Alana Pack, 7, and her brother, Troy, 10.
