Award: David Fanning, executive producer of PBS’ “Frontline” documentary series, was named the winner of the 2004 Columbia Journalism Award, given by the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism for “singular journalistic performance in the public interest.”

Host: Seventeen-year-old actress Lindsay Lohan, currently on big screens in “Mean Girls,” will host the MTV Movie Awards, which will air June 10.

Drama: Lynn Nottage’s “Intimate Apparel,” which premiered at South Coast Repertory in Costa Mesa last year and went on to a New York production earlier this year, has been named best play of the year by the New York Drama Critics Circle. The critics’ group chose not to honor a musical this year.
