The eight adults and two juveniles were arrested Wednesday, when police raided 15 sites in Garden Grove, Westminster, Anaheim, Stanton, Huntington Beach and Santa Ana.

On March 19, police said, the group exchanged shots with a rival gang near Ward Street and McFadden Avenue.

Several hours later, one of the group’s members was severely beaten with bats and clubs by members of the rival gang at Ice Cafe at Brookhurst Street and Chapman Avenue, police said.

The group then gathered at a Garden Grove home to plan retaliation, police said.

“They all left this residence together in search of their rival,” said Garden Grove Police Lt. Mike Handfield.

Late that night, the group spotted Nhan Thanh Chuong, 24, of Santa Ana and a friend driving near Brookhurst and Garden Grove Boulevard and followed them to the 10100 block of Crosby Avenue, where members of the group fired a shotgun, killing Chuong and injuring his friend, Handfield said.

The adults are scheduled to be arraigned today in Westminster. They are being held in Orange County Jail on suspicion of murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

The two juveniles, who will face the same charges, are being held at Orange County Juvenile Hall.
