Award: Dana Priest, a reporter for the Washington Post and author of “The Mission: Waging War and Keeping Peace With America’s Military,” has won the Helen Bernstein Book Award for excellence in journalism. The prize, announced Monday by the New York Public Library, is worth $15,000.
Renewal: Carson Daly’s contract to host NBC’s late-night show “Last Call” has been extended through 2007, the network said Monday.
Delegate: TV talk show host Jerry Springer has been selected to be an at-large Ohio delegate for the Democratic National Convention in Boston. Springer was the mayor of Cincinnati before becoming host of the syndicated “Jerry Springer Show.”
