Boost the Border Patrol

Re “Border Agents Warn of Influx,” May 16: As was widely predicted, President Bush’s foolish immigration proposal has already led to a spike in illegal border crossings. Clearly, rewarding lawbreakers (or even hinting at a reward) only leads to more such behavior. The only sensible solution to the crisis, and the only solution that will hinder the efforts of terrorists to cross our porous borders, is to dramatically increase the size of the Border Patrol. We must also crack down on businesses that choose to hire illegal workers instead of American workers. Politicians of both parties must stop catering to special interests and begin protecting our country from this onslaught of illegal aliens.
