Barry Bonds drew a leadoff walk to spark a six-run seventh inning Friday night that carried the San Francisco Giants past the Montreal Expos, 6-5.

Bonds played despite a sore back that had kept him out of the last two games and five of the last six. He said he wanted the fans in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where the Expos play 22 of their home games, to get a chance to see him play.

He hammered balls over the fence in batting practice, then took time to sign autographs just a few minutes before the first pitch. He had one hit in three at-bats with a walk and never got the ball out of the infield. The hit was an infield single.

With San Francisco trailing 3-0, Bonds’ walk against Livan Hernandez (3-3) started the big rally. After they closed to within a run, Edgardo Alfonzo had a two-out, two-run single and Marquis Grissom followed with a two-run double.

Cincinnati 7, Houston 4 -- Ken Griffey Jr.’s slump-ending double keyed a five-run rally in the seventh inning at Cincinnati. The double broke a 4-4 tie and a personal 0 for 13 skid, sending the Reds to their sixth victory in seven games.

Philadelphia 5, San Diego 4 -- Former UCLA star Chase Utley had three RBIs, including a go-ahead single in the bottom of the eighth inning that capped a comeback from a three-run deficit.

Florida 6, Arizona 5 -- Mike Redmond drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the 10th inning. Juan Pierre led off the inning with a single, and stole second one out later. Reliever Brian Bruney intentionally walked Miguel Cabrera and then walked Abraham Nunez to load the bases.

St. Louis 7, Chicago 6 -- At St. Louis, the Cardinals won their third in a row and moved a season-high four games above .500. The Cardinals had 10 hits and a 7-3 lead after five innings, but didn’t get another hit the rest of the game.

New York 9, Colorado 7 -- The Mets roughed up rookie Jason Young (0-1) at Shea Stadium, scoring six runs in the first three innings with eight hits, including a home run and five doubles. They scored in each of the first four innings.
