Bank’s Vault Alarm Was Right After All

From Times Wire Reports

Thieves may have spent more than a month chiseling through a concrete bank vault before employees noticed that an undisclosed amount of money was missing, Redding police officers said.

The Bank of America branch’s vault alarm sounded several times over a span of five weeks before May 12, when workers finally realized the vault had been broken into. “Each time the alarm activated, the police responded and found the bank secure,” Redding Police Capt. Dave Mundy said.

Police checked the outer entrances and windows but not the roof, Mundy said, and the thieves may have used an access door there to enter the bank.
