State Decides Not to Split 310 Area Code -- Yet
From Times Staff Reports
The California Public Utilities Commission declined Thursday to split the 310 area code, saying there were enough telephone numbers available to meet demand for three more years.
The board voted 4 to 1, citing the more than 2 million numbers still available but noting that the pool was dwindling.
“The 310 obviously isn’t going to last forever,” said state Sen. Debra Bowen (D-Marina del Rey), who heads the state Senate’s Energy, Utilities and Communications Committee.
