* Jesse Vega, Garden Grove Santiago: Scored on a quarterback sneak from two yards out to cap a 73-yard drive in the final 50 seconds and lift the Cavaliers to a 20-17 nonleague victory over Santa Ana.
GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL
* Melissa Boer, Cerritos Valley Christian: The senior outside hitter was selected most valuable player after the Crusaders defeated Menifee Paloma Valley, 25-21, for the championship of the Los Angeles Marlborough tournament. Boer finished with 53 kills, 44 digs, eight blocks and eight aces on the day.
BOYS’ WATER POLO
* Scott Swanson and Jacob McIntosh, Long Beach Wilson: Swanson scored five goals as the Bruins (17-2), ranked No. 1 in Southern Section Division I, beat Coronado, 17-8, in an intersectional game. McIntosh came off the bench and made nine saves.
GIRLS’ TENNIS
* Christina Tan and Brooke Pletcher, Dana Point Dana Hills: Tan swept, 6-0, 6-2, 6-0, and Pletcher swept, 6-1, 6-4, 6-1, as the Dolphins (12-3), ranked No. 8 in Southern Section Division I, upended No. 4 North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake, 13-5.
